Roof Things is a proud distributor of the Snow Defender 4500 made by Levi's Building Components. The Snow Defender 4500 is a stainless steel metal snow guard which aids in protecting people, vehicles and landscaping when snow and ice fall from metal roofs. An EPDM rubber sealer has been added to the bottom of the snow guard which helps to prevent water leaks were screws penetrate the roof. Also considered a pad-style snow guard, it is designed for use with exposed fastener panels on 2 x 4 purlins in the flat position. It may be color coated to match the color of your roof, and galvanized or stainless steel screws may be purchased and painted the same color as the Snow Defender.

Should have done these sooner. 6/12 pitch ProPanel roofs at 8,300' elevation result in constant vigilance to keep avalanche releases from piling up against windows. Not to mention the heavy shoveling and nuisance piles of ice on concrete. These brackets held back a drift probably five feet deep on one of the roofs for a month just fine. Was getting a little nervous about the weight on the structure but it was built to county code for this elevation and held up OK. We doubled the quantity of brackets because there was no way to screw every one into rafters or cross braces. None pulled out.

Great snow guards
Snow guards are well made. The color matches the metal roof exactly. They were very easy to install. We live in the Poconos and haven't had any snow yet this year, but I'm sure they will do what they are supposed to do.

I haven't had a chance to install them or see them 'in action' yet as it's still too cold for roof work yet. I do like the design of them. They have a good outline. The rubber seal on the base is an added bonus. The steel they're made of is at least as thick as the steel roof (if not thicker) they're going on. The colour is also an excellent match to the roof. The old snow guards they are replacing are made of some plastic/vinyl material and were starting to crack and break off after 10 years so am hopeful these will last as long as the roof.

We have put up our snow guards this fall, but so far no significant snowfall this winter. The color of guards matched my roof and the quality of the metal looks like it will hold up well over time. We didn't order enough to do entire barn, so we reordered more to finish up. We would recommend them!

I recently purchased the snow defenders. I'm happy to say that they worked perfectly. It snowed shortly after getting them installed. When the snow broke loose it stopped it from coming off the roof and taking out my deck. So I recommend this product for anyone who may be considering them. Highly recommend.

I bought 40 of the snow defender snow guards and have installed them on my roof. They are constructed of high quality steel and seem to be very rugged. They were easy to install. I will have to wait through the winter to see if they work the way I hope they will. If ordering them remember that (2) #12-2" inch screws are required for each guard. I bought they screws locally but I'm sure you can get them when you order the guards. I hope this was helpful.

Yes. You can place the snow guard on top and then screw it down through the shingles.
