Q: When is the best time of year to install snow guards?
A: In my opinion, the best time of year to install snow guards is when it's not too hot and not too cold. Fall and Spring are the best times of year for installing Snow Guards because of the weather conditions. More plays in to this equation though than just nice weather for working up there on your metal roof. One major factor most people consider is pricing. Snow guard installation costs will vary greatly with the time of year you have them installed or install them yourself. At Roof Things we see a large spike in the number of snow guards ordered in the fall. With this in mind, installers are probably going to charge you more money to install your snow guards in the fall than they will in the spring because they have less work in the spring. You are also more likely to find a good deal on snow guards in the spring than you will ordering them in the fall.
Q: When is the worst time of year to install snow guards?
A: Winter. There is no questions about it. Working in cold weather is just the pits!

We are planning to build an addition on to the side of the rear wing of this house. The wing is approximately thirty feet long and the addition will have a shed roof. The wing itself is two stories tall and the roof is standing seam, 4X12 pitch. Obviously when we have snow accumulate, it eventually slides off and falls to the ground below. We usually get a fairly significant amount of snow all winter. I do not want the snow to fall off the roof above onto the new roof/addition we are plan
